Dean, Isis E. Isis Edith Evelyn Dean, 95, of Edina, died peacefully February 5, 2006. Born August 19, 1910 in Mankato, MN to Edward and Ethel (Walrath) DuBois, she graduated from Mankato High School in 1928 and attended Mankato State Teacher's College. She taught primary grades in Dundas and Magnolia, MN schools. On June 24, 1939 she married William Burdette Dean, whom she met in Magnolia. She was interested and active in a great many things including genealogy, cooking, bridge, politics, her family, puzzles and games of any kind, but most of all, reading. She read at least a book a week most of her life. She was a member of the Woman's Club of Minneapolis, (especially enjoying the writer's group),the DAR and several bridge clubs. She enjoyed the outdoors and picking berries, which she skillfully made into delicious jams and jellies. She was particularly outstanding at making bread and pies. As a teenager, she won several baking awards, including a blue ribbon at the Minnesota State Fair. Her love of life and positive attitude will be sorely missed by all who knew her. Survivors include her loving husband, Burdette; one son, William DuBois Dean (Christine) of Bloomington, and one daughter, Lynette Gudrais (Zigfrid) of Red Wing; six grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, five nieces and one nephew. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Cedric, Arden and Stephen. Memorial service Sun., Feb. 19, 1 p.m., at The Cremation Society of Minnesota, Edina Chapel, 7110 France Avenue South, with visitation one hour prior to the service.
