Ira
Dains, son of Ephriam and Irene Dains, born on 2-2-1793, will be called the Old
Ira
Ira
Dains, born in 1819, will be called Young Ira.
I
believe that Old Ira is the father of Young Ira, and will try and list my
reasonings:
Grandpa
Ephriam was listed as an acclaimed shoemaker, and so were Old Ira and Young Ira.
MICHIGAN
LAND RECORDS:
Ira
Dains selling land abt. 6-1-1831 located in the Michigan-Toledo Strip. Also
buying/selling land, in the Michigan-Toledo Strip, was a Samuel Dains (Old
Ira’s brother), sales document issue date 8-1-1831, an Ephraim Dains (Old
Ira’s father), issue date 6-8-1833, and a Henry Dains( Old Ira’s brother),
issue date, 11-1-1841.( I DON’T THINK THAT YOUNG IRA, WOULD BE SELLING LAND IN
1831, AS HE WOULD HAVE BEEN ONLY 12 YEARS OLD)(HENRY AND SAMUEL WOULD HAVE BEEN
YOUNG IRA’S UNCLES)(EPHRAIM IS BURIED IN REDFORD, WAYNE CO. MICHIGAN MOVING
FROM CONNECTICUT)
Young
Ira married Emmaline Francisco(Sisco) on 3-5-1835, at Springs Wells, Wayne

KENT COUNT IN 1837. COULD EMMALINE , BE SAMUEL’S DAUGHTER).

My
story is that Old Ira and Young Ira moved from Yates County, New York to Wayne
County, Michigan in 1831. Young Ira married Emmiline Francisco in Wayne County,
Michigan in 1835. The Francisco family, were friends of Old Ira. Then in 1837,
Young Ira moved with his Father in Law to Kent County, Michigan, near Lowell,
Michigan. Young Ira stayed in that area for some time as three of their four
children are buried in a Cemetery, near Lowell, Kent County, Michigan. Then in
1860, the family is listed in the Iowa 1860 Census, living in Winneshiek County,
Iowa. Then he joined the infantry in 1862, and died in New Orleans, La in 1863.
From letters from Aunts, they stated that they moved to Iowa when the Indian land opened to the public. Also Young Ira, they stated had two sisters, Lucina Lull and Ursula Daniels, don’t know about that as I can’t find anything on the two.
